Abdi Warsame
What Abdi covers
Abdi writes the football pages. That means the football betting sites page, the coverage note attached to every brand row, and the competition list each book gets checked against, which starts with what Somali readers watch rather than what a European reader would look for first.
- Premier League: market depth per fixture, in play availability, and how prices move in the hour before kickoff.
- Champions League: how big the pre match list is and whether second tier markets survive on midweek nights.
- LaLiga and Serie A: whether a book prices more than the headline three markets.
- Ocean Stars: whether Somali national team fixtures are priced at all, and how far in advance.
- Somali Premier League: presence of any domestic market, which remains rare across the list.
- AFCON and the FIFA World Cup cycle: outright and group markets while the cycle is live.
Background
Abdi grew up watching Premier League football in Somali cafes, then spent his student years and early working life in the United Kingdom, where the betting market is mature and a reader can compare 20 books on one fixture in an afternoon. He writes from Mogadishu now, where the same fixture list is followed just as closely and the practical questions are entirely different: which sites load on a slow connection, which take money from a Somali wallet, and which price anything beyond the big five leagues.
A reader in Bosaso and a reader in Doha follow the same fixture list and get two different sets of options. The second one has more of this list open to him.
What a coverage note means
A coverage note says what a book actually prices, checked on the operator site on a mid range Android handset over a mobile connection, which is how most readers here will see it. Where a book carries no Ocean Stars fixture and no Somali Premier League market, the note says so, whatever the commercial arrangement behind that brand.
Corrections
If something on a football page is wrong, write to editorial@somaliabets.com with the page and the detail. Corrections are applied everywhere the same claim appears, not just on the page you were reading.
